Students in the Clinicals and Theory classes in Brazosport ISD had an exciting and educational lesson that put their personal protective equipment (PPE) skills to the test.
In a fun and creative twist, they exploded watermelons using the rubber band technique, providing a memorable way to understand the importance of PPE in healthcare settings.
While the Clinicals focused on applying medical skills in real-world situations, they also practiced safe glove removal by dipping their gloved hands into a simulated stool mixture made from chocolate pudding, chocolate syrup, and strawberry jello. The challenge was to carefully remove their gloves without getting any of the substance on their skin, reinforcing the critical importance of hygiene and safety protocols in clinical practice.
Meanwhile, the Theory classes, which emphasize the foundational knowledge behind clinical practices, wrapped up their Infection Control unit with engaging hands-on activities. The combination of fun and practical learning experiences not only made the lesson memorable but also equipped students with essential skills for their future careers in healthcare. Overall, it was a fantastic way to end the unit, highlighting the importance of safety and proper procedures in the medical field.
