Highlights

The Friendswood Independent School District was established in 1948 and covers 15 square miles. Fully accredited by the Texas Agency, the district’s curriculum emphasizes academic skills, authentic learning experiences and building relationships.

FISD has six campuses: one PreK-2, one K-3, two 3-5 intermediate campuses, one 6-8 junior high and one 9-12 high school.

Our San Antonio-area Independent School Districts serve 340,238 students. Our school zones are broken up into ISDs (school districts).

The districts cover Bexar, the Hill Country, Comal, and Wilson counties.

Principals, teachers, counselors, nurses, and maintenance are a few of the roles working together to create an environment that is safe and supportive. Academics and extracurricular clubs provide opportunities to all students with varying interests and skill levels.

Thad Roher Superintendent Friendswood ISD

Thad Roher

Mr. Roher graduated from Barclay College in 1991 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education. He received his Master of Science in Education Administration from Fort Hays State University in 1995. He is also a member of the 1986 graduating class from Friendswood High School. Thad Roher has served as a K-12 principal in Haviland, KS, an assistant principal at Friendswood High School, an Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum for both elementary and secondary and most recently served as Deputy Superintendent in Friendswood ISD, overseeing the business operations for the district.
Roher and his wife Tina have two children. His oldest is in college at Texas A&M University and his youngest, a recent FHS graduate, will be going to the Coast Guard.
