United ISD students at Muller Elementary celebrated a love for literacy with the Accelerated Reader Book Character Parade. Students, teachers, and staff lined the halls, sharing their enthusiasm for reading by participating in this exciting event. Young readers dressed as minions, sharks, and even Scooby Doo, brimming with excitement as they showed up in style with peers to party for the parade! Some even brought their own illustrations and creations, and many others were donned in special paper hats for the day.
Accelerated Reader is a research-proven reading practice that involves goal setting, quizzes, and personalized recommendations that motivate students to read more. Parents are given access to personalized dashboards and reports that provide insights on each students’ progress, including what they’re reading.
As students accumulate points based on the books they read, each school has the opportunity to reward their students for reaching their point goals. A parade like this sure seems like a great reward for pushing the importance of reading at school and home!
