Cy Fair ISD hosted its first annual Summer Meals Kick-Off event at Francone Elementary School, in partnership with Power Up Cafe. This event aimed to raise community awareness about CFISD’s free summer meals program, providing nutritious breakfasts and lunches to children aged 18 and younger, as well as students with disabilities up to 21 years old.
Power Up Cafe, integral to Cy Fair ISD’s Nutrition Services operating across all 95 campuses with a dedicated team of over 1,200 employees, ensured the success of the event. Together, they have served over 124,000 meals daily and 20 million annually, offering everything from chili and spaghetti sauce to fresh whole-grain breads and their famous cinnamon rolls.
Families enjoyed a day filled with music, games, snacks, Kona Ice, bounce houses, face painting, and free meals. CFISD’s Mobile Library and free produce from the Houston Food Bank were also available, alongside various community partners promoting summer resources within the CFISD community.
