Southwest ISD’s Gamma Sigma Pearls had an exciting semester filled with various activities and service projects. They went camping at Camp La Jita, collected donations for the San Antonio Humane Society, and volunteered in the community. Additionally, they earned their Girl Scout Cadette Sashes and patches. The camping trip was a huge success. It featured archery, wall climbing, team building, trail hiking, cooking, and swimming under the stars.
Then several Gamma Sigma Pearls members presented the San Antonio Humane Society with a $300 check. They also delivered items from the organization’s wish list, including kennels, dog food, blankets, towels, feeding bowls, collars, and toys. During their visit, students toured the facility. They explored the medical clinic, dog and puppy kennels, and cat and kitten kennels. Moreover, they learned about the pet adoption process.
Lastly, the group extends their thanks to Mrs. Gaeta, Director of Community Education, and Dr. Ball, Superintendent of Schools, for providing these lifelong learning opportunities. The Gamma Sigma Pearls program, developed by the Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas, combines the Girl Scout Leadership Experience with a sorority-like setting. It fosters sisterhood and common interests among girls. Open to all girls in grades 6-12, the program emphasizes diversity and inclusivity. It does not require any special talents, skills, or minimum GPA.
