Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Students Get Hands-On Experience at the Junior Police Academy
Students at Cypress-Fairbanks ISD experience what it’s like to be a police officer for a day.
Some students grow up aspiring to be police officers, and with the help of Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Police Department they were able to get first hand experience into what the job entails. The Junior Police Academy is a full day learning experience for students ages 9 to 11 within the district. The mission of the academy is to introduce students to law enforcement while also creating a positive interaction between the police, students, and parents.
The junior cadets are taught by police officers through classroom training and hands-on instruction, and they learn important life-saving skills such as how to stop the bleed. The cadets also meet the CFPD K-9’s and check out department vehicles such as firetrucks and the DPS helicopters.
This program is a great way for students to learn about the daily aspects that come with being a first responder and why they are so important to our communities.
