La Vernia ISD Students Prepare to be Future Teachers
La Vernia High School CTE students get hands-on experience in the classroom
Public school not only provides the knowledge students need to succeed, but it can also give students the opportunity to acquire real-world experience. Through the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program at LA Vernia ISD, students are able to take career and technical courses that give them the skills and knowledge necessary for their chosen careers. There are several Programs of Study such as agribusiness, business management, and teaching and training. Students within the teaching and training program have put their knowledge to use this school year.
The teaching and training program prepares students for careers related to teaching, and it familiarizes them with the processes for developing curriculum and coordinating educational content. During their internships, La Vernia High School CTE students plan and facilitate lessons on various subjects, and they design a developmentally appropriate lesson for children. These CTE students gain first hand experience in teaching young students. This hands-on experience is important to have not only in teaching, but other career fields as well. Students gain an understanding of what having a job is like as they begin building their resume.
