Southside ISD FFA students can be a part of many different exciting events in the realm of agriculture.
FFA is the premier youth organization preparing members for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture.
The Southside FFA had its first Tractor restoration Project for the agriculture mechanics competition. The team consisted of Team Leader Caden Matheny, Cole Matheny, Tryce Heckman, and Dacee Vela. They have competed at the Fort Worth Stockshow, the Hill District Grandstand Show in which they won Grand Champion Tractor, the San Angelo Stockshow, and the San Antonio Stockshow and Rodeo in which they placed 3rd in their class.
The Southside FFA Cardinal Cookers competed at the National High School BBQ Association James Madison Regional Qualifier. The team got 4th place with their chicken which was cooked by Maverick Vela and 4th place with their Skirt Steak Tacos which were cooked by Nikko Garcia. Both presentations were set up by Dacee Vela. The team was able to qualify for state with this competition!
