The San Antiono Food Bank is a non-profit, charitable organization that distributes food to those in need within the community. The Food Bank came to visit Pecan Valley STEM Academy, an East Central ISD elementary school.
The visit aimed to teach students about why healthy eating is important and give the children a healthy snack! The San Antonio Food Bank team gave the students important informational documents such as the importance of gut health and what a gut microbiome is.
Then the team also instructed the young students on how to make certain dishes. The San Antonio Food Bank assisted the students with cooking an orange sweet treat! The kids were delighted to participate inside the kitchen and enjoy a delicious dessert.
