In September, Alamo Heights ISD teacher, Sarah Holmes, was celebrated during the Board Meeting for her outstanding commitment to empowering students to “develop a healthy sense of self,” aligning perfectly with the AHISD Profile of a Learner.
The Alamo Heights High School’s English Language Arts teacher’s dedication and work in the classroom were showcased in a video, shedding light on her remarkable contributions.
The AHISD Profile of a Learner serves as a comprehensive guide, outlining the knowledge, skills, and attributes that students should acquire to pursue their individual dreams and make a positive impact on the world upon graduation. The profile emphasizes the following key attributes for Alamo Heights Learners:
Developing a Healthy Sense of Self
Seeking Knowledge and Understanding
Thinking Critically and Creatively
Communicating and Collaborating
Employing Skills for Life
Engaging Socially and Globally
Throughout the year, the District takes the opportunity to recognize educators across all campuses and grade levels who instill these attributes in their students, contributing to their growth and development.
In another exciting development, the 2023-24 EXCEL Award Winner for AHISD has been revealed, and it’s none other than Alamo Heights ISD teacher, Jessica Gonzales. The Howard ECC kindergarten teacher received a surprise during a heartwarming moment with her family, colleagues, and students. She was presented with an apple trophy and a generous $1,000 check, a token of appreciation from KENS 5 and Credit Human. Mrs. Gonzales is set to be featured on KENS 5 on Tuesday, October 3, at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Her dedication and contributions have made us immensely proud.
