A lifelong believer in the power of public schools to shape the greatness of our nation, Dr. Toni Riester-Wood has championed students, families and teachers in Texas public education for more than 25 years. In La Vernia ISD, Dr. Riester-Wood has been responsible for guiding the development of a comprehensive Curriculum and Innovation program as well as leading the district’s strategic planning process to establish a new vision for uncompromising excellence in and beyond the classroom. // Guided by this new strategic plan, the mission of La Vernia ISD is to collaboratively educate and inspire all students to be lifelong learners with unlimited possibilities as contributing members of society. La Vernia ISD students have a wealth of opportunities to pursue comprehensive enrichment and preparation for the future through athletics, fine arts, advanced academic courses, and world-class career and technical education programs. Dr. Riester-Wood is proud to serve LVISD students alongside their teachers, families, and administrators in pursuit of achieving the district’s mission for every child. // Dr. Riester-Wood holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Human Development with support areas in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University, where she was awarded the T.M. Stinnett Fellowship in recognition of outstanding research in the field of education. A former teacher, principal, program director, and national education consultant, she also holds certifications in General Education and Special Education. Prior to joining the La Vernia ISD team, Dr. Riester-Wood served as the Director of Curriculum and Professional Development for Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD. Dr. Riester-Wood also serves as President-Elect for the Alamo Area Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (AAASCD) and as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Education at Trinity University and the University of Texas A&M-San Antonio.
