From the time they enter Howard Early Childhood Center until they graduate from Alamo Heights High School, the AHISD Profile of a Learner articulates the hopes, dreams and aspirations we have for all our students. The district Community Based Accountability System reflects a shared commitment to continuous improvement by evaluating student and district success using a multitude of data beyond what is captured in a standardized test.
AHISD has been recognized for academic excellence by the College Board with the AP Honor Roll. A record 270 students were recognized in 2024 as AP Scholars for earning scores of three or higher on three or more AP exams. Ninety five percent of the Class of 2024 went on to prestigious colleges and universities around the country.
In the fall of 2024, the Early College High School at Alamo Heights HS welcomed an inaugural class of 9th grade students. In four years, they will graduate with a high school diploma and associate degree.
Preparing students for future college and career success begins in AHISD classrooms. With innovative courses like fashion design, culinary arts, forensic science, and the Teach program for future teachers, there are multiple pathways to explore as a high school student. Both the rocketry program and Business Incubator program have earned national recognition and honors while providing students experience as entrepreneurs and engineers.
Alamo Heights ISD has also been recognized nationally for character education. In 2024, Howard and Cambridge were named National Schools of Character.
