Southwest ISD offers Pre-K thru 12 Aeronautical STEM Program.
Southwest ISD provides students first-hand experience and exposure to new opportunities within the aviation industry in a groundbreaking Aeronautical STEM program.
During the 2018-2019 school year, Bob Hope Elementary School will implement a 5th grade aerospace curriculum with participation from the Blue Sky Educational Foundation and the highly acclaimed Blue Sky Program.
There is also outside of the classroom learning experiences for 8th graders at Resnik Middle School and Southwest High School students.
Grants to Southwest High School will allow for teacher training of Aircraft Owner and Pilot Association (AOPA) materials in Maryland, and The Dee Howard Foundation and its community partners, and the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) has already begun working with students on an anticipated two-year program to build an RV-12iS aircraft.

Jeanette Ball SWISD Superintendent

DR. JEANETTE BALL

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jeanette Ball is a seasoned educational leader with many years of experience in different districts.
Dr. Ball’s leadership style is characterized by her passion and persistence for equitable educational experiences for all students. During the pandemic, she successfully implemented a 1:1 technology device initiative for students and staff, ensuring that learning opportunities were not disrupted. She also prioritizes clear and transparent communication to empower student and staff voices and strengthen stakeholder relationships.

Dr. Ball strongly believes in the value of Fine Arts and its impact on student academic performance and achievement. She launched an effective Fine Arts Summer Program in Uvalde CISD that helped bring out the best in student potential. At the same time, she is passionate about Dual Language education and the opportunities it affords students in school, life, and as they prepare for their careers.

Dr. Ball’s dedication and leadership have not gone unnoticed. She was named the 2021 Education Service Center, Region 20 (ESC-20) Superintendent of the Year. She represented ESC-20 at the state level competition at the Texas Association of School Administrators and Texas Association of School Boards (TASA/TASB) Conference in September 2021.
