SAISD High School Heals with the Help of Therapy Animals and SAISD Police Department
Recently, Jefferson High School faced a false alarm causing strain on the campus. Thankfully, TASA was prepared to visit the high school as well as SAISD’s Police Department. Students and faculty were comforted by the extra snuggles from TASA’s therapy dogs and feelings of safety through police officers.
What is TASA?
The SAISD board of trustees approved a memorandum of understanding with TASA, Therapy Animals of San Antonio, which is a 33-year-old volunteer operated non-profit organization. TASA brings in registered and trained animal therapy teams to provide therapy services to campuses upon request during high-stress situations.
Thanking SAISD PD
International Baccalaureate World School Huppertz Middle School showed their appreciation for the police officers who responded to Jefferson by decorating hand-written thank you cards and offering breakfast and lunch. Many students have siblings at the high school and were thankful that SAISD PD ensured everyone’s safety.
