CANstruction Competition Gives Back
CANstruction is an international nonprofit organization aimed at providing canned goods to local food banks by hosting competitions where teams consisting of architects, engineers, contractors, and student mentees design and build large structures made of cans. After the competitions, the food is donated to local food banks.
Using the 2021 competition theme “Stop Hunger,” the team of Bridgeland students and VLK Architects created a structure titled “Good Night Hunger” depicting the story behind Vincent van Gogh’s famous painting Starry Night. The structure was built from more than 6,900 taco-inspired canned food items, including beans, corn, nacho cheese and included taco spice packets and taco shell boxes to help create the village.
