Southside High School Welding hosted the annual SkillsUSA District 11 Welding Contest. With over 70 students competing in the Hands-on Skills portion with schools from all over the area.
Southside had 18 students competing in various hands-on skills welding and job exhibits (projects). Job Exhibits had 7 Cardinal students qualify for state! With a western theme Octagon BBQ Pit and a Hog Trap.
The SkillsUSA Championships brings the community of industry, labor representatives, educators, and the public together to make this competition come true. These championships start locally in contests in different classrooms nationwide. As different winners are chosen they advance from district to state to nationals! Through these competitions, students show off their skills and can network with professionals in the industry. National winners receive medallions as well as scholarships and tools. The national winners also get a chance to compete internationally every other year!
