Southwest ISD Cosmetology students teamed up with Southwest High School barbers to give free haircuts at the Blue Santa Parade! They provided over 70 free haircuts! Shoutout to these young entrepreneurs for all their hard work and showing that you can start your career with success at any age.
Tom Preston and a few of his fellow officers knew of several families who could not afford toys under their tree. With their own money, they purchased and distributed toys to underprivileged boys and girls who would not soon forget the day a police officer became their personal Santa. As the project gained more attention, Preston began dressing in a custom navy blue Santa suit.
Cosmetology students also helped out with the Penguin Project’s production of The Little Mermaid Jr. They assisted the production doing hair and makeup, evoking images of mermaids, singing crabs, and bright sea colors! The Southwest ISD Penguin Project provides an opportunity for children with special needs to participate in a theatrical experience. The Penguin Project is unique because all the roles are filled by young artists with special needs. The impact of the program has reached beyond the stage to create a social network for these young actors. Way to go Titans!
