This past spring where Southside ISD Fiesta parades swept through the district, students loved dressing up in their vibrant Fiesta outfits, waving to the sea of familiar faces.
Parades are a common highlight of Fiestas Patrias in both Mexico and the United States. Colorful floats, marching bands, traditional costumes, and flag-waving participants fill the streets, creating a festive and lively atmosphere. These elements combined to make the Southside ISD parade a vibrant celebration that everyone enjoyed.
The entire Cardinal Nation rallied together, showing up in full force to cheer them on, creating an unforgettable atmosphere of community spirit and joy. Students, teachers, parents, and local residents participated.
Southside ISD’s Fiesta parades not only entertained but also strengthened the bonds within the community. The parades serve as a visual representation of unity and patriotism felt during these celebrations. They bring together people from different backgrounds to celebrate their shared heritage and culture. The sense of community and togetherness was evident as everyone participated in the festivities, from students and teachers to parents and local residents.
And, in Edgewood ISD …
The Superintendent’s Safety Platica was hosted at Loma Park Elementary School where students and families from Edgewood ISD learned about safety and culture. Games and family fun brought people together.
The police invited discussed with students families about neighborhood safety. They learned how to keep a watch out for criminal activity and what to do in that situation
The event included Mexican cultural student performances. And, the McKinney-Vento Homeless Program provided free shoes for the students that needed them.
