Abilene ISD students spent the day at the Industrial Technology Center at Texas State Technical College, enjoying hands-on, immersive activities in different Career and Technical (CTE) skills programs.
Students explored a variety of technical programs. They had the chance to use specialized equipment, including that for welding, to perform CPR on mannequin dummies, to build a light sensor vehicle, to train on a PLC control system, and climb and repel the wind tower trainer. Later, Instructors with one of the center’s newest programs, Electrical Lineworker and Management Technology, took students on a tour of the pole yard and let them try on safety harnesses.
The day made for an engaging and educational experience that highlighted exciting career paths. After a full day of new experiences and expanded familiarity with trade systems, the field-trippers ended the day with some refreshing Kona Ice.
Thanks, Abilene ISD, for investing in young minds and student futures!
