Fort Bend ISD Female Students Excel in Welding Programs

Fort Bend ISD is promoting and growing their programs for welding and auto mechanics, and they want female students to join!

Dot Reuter teaches welding in FBISD and has witnessed an increase in girls’ interest in the field. “Female welders have a reputation for making better welds because they tend to have smaller hands and good attention to detail”, she said.

Fort Bend is making it clear that these male dominated fields do not have to be that way. “Welders and auto shop mechanics are traditionally male-dominated professions, but there’s a growing number of female students in Fort Bend ISD exploring these careers.”
