SCUCISD’s STEM-Themed Summer Camp Fun
Students in Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD enjoyed a week of hands-on learning with STEMKAMP, a program dedicated to the promotion of education and careers within the STEM field.
Students in Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD enjoyed a week of STEMKAMP. Students in grades 3rd to 8th learned about various STEM-centered topics while also exploring career options within the STEM field. STEMKAMP encourages learning through a problem-solving lens. Students use critical thinking to solve creative problems that help them become better equipped for jobs in STEM. The camp’s theme of the summer was “New Frontiers in Space”. Students explored what makes a planet habitable and how we survive on Earth. Topics of the week included studying soil, typography, and wind power. Additionally, students were taken on a field trip to Randolph Air Force Base.
STEMKAMP is a summer camp program that runs throughout the United States. It offers a hands-on education within the STEM field to elementary and middle school students. The camp gives priority to children of active military personnel and is held at various military-connected schools throughout the country. STEMKAMP is provided thanks to the U.S. Department of Defense, Goshen Education Consulting, and iBIO.
